busy once again, thousands of flights were grounded earlier this week due to the storm. the airport is back up and running as normal. sandy caused thousands of flight cancellations to and from destinations along the east coast. laguardia will reopen this morning. it suffered major flooding from sandy and both runways will be open for business. travelers are being asked to contact the the airline. coming up, a man becomes a human hood ornament in a parking lot, this all over a fight for a parking spot. we'll tell you about the charges the driver faces. >> and a zombie expert giving tips on how to prepare for a zombie pandemic, he says it's going to happen so we'll hear what he has to say when we come back.

we have some health news for you this morning. a new study questions the use of drugs for pregnant women who may be experiencing symptoms of depression. this report looked at more than 100 studies on certain antidepressants, things like paxil, zoloft, lexapro, and they found that they increased the risk of miscarriage, early delivery and neurological problems in babies. pregnant women need to talk it to their doctor if they're taking antidepressants. how can you tell if your child has a cold or allergies. this time of year it's common for kids to have runny noses a cough or they're sneezing. they might also have a fever. if your child is sick for a few weeks and no one else in the home is getting sick, chances are it's allergies. and when in doubt parents should always talk to their pediatrician. we want to tell you about the pledge one hospital is asking their workers and community to sign. why they say it's about being

damage. up in hartford county you want to be extra careful traveling in fall is to be where there's damage at friendship road and mayhem road at carsons run road and crescent ride at 543. if you are using 95 as we check in and take a look at 152, everytng moving right along. no delays as you travel towards white marsh. you'll notice the jfx going to be in great shape, just that typical 11 minute ride from the beltway down to fayette street. no delays from parkville to towson. no delays, normal drive times to travel that outer loop from 795 down towards 95. over to you. 2 minutes after 5, all new, help is on the way for our neighbors in new jersey who suffered a lot from this storm. abc2's linda so is here with how emergency responders in our state are helping out.

>> just 10 minutes ago an ambulance and suv and several emergency responders from baltimore left for new jersey, a second ambulance will be leaving any minute now. they ran into a problem when that ambulance wouldn't start. they're in the process of jump starting it right now. the crews are heading to atlantic county new jersey, an area devastated by the storm. we'll have new video for you of them leaving the public training safety center on northern parkway later in the newscast. we have a photographer there right now. ems crews arrived at around 4 this morning getting last minute supplies packed into the ambulances and the suv. they're on their way to flooded out areas in new jersey where homes are destroyed. they'll be joined by several other medics from maryland to help with the recovery. the medic units are stocked with bandages, back boards, splints and once they get to new jersey they'll be responding to 9-1-1 calls. the team that left here from baltimore will be making a quick stop in elkton to meet up with other units from maryland. then they'll be heading to new

jersey together. they're expected to get there at 9 this morning and to spend the next seven to ten days helping storm victims. 3 minute after 5 right now. when you were getting ready for sandy you may have picked up sandbags and now that the storm is over, you might not know what to do with them. the city has announced dropoff dropoff locations. you can bring them to the broadway pier or you can go to polly western high school parking lot. these locations will be open from 10 to 7 today and tomorrow. that's where they want you to drop off that sand. the lights are slowly coming back on in new york city. we want to take a live look at manhattan, not as bright as it normally is this time of day, but that larger section of the city they have power restored. this includes parts of lower manhattan including new york's financial district and battery park. they were hit very hard by flooding. the people that are still in the dark right now, they are trying to make the best of it, but it is tough as you can imagine. while they wait for the power

to return, many restaurants may have reopened anyway. >> we didn't want to disappoint people. why not, just do it you know. let's open the place and see what happens. so it's been fun so far. >> when everything went dark we all lit our candles and i looked in my window and i looked out and everybody in the skyscrapers around me, everybody was standing at their window looking out with their candle and it was actually really quite moving. >> the outages could last through the weekend for many people. five days until the election and question 6 is getting a-list support, brad pitt is giving $25,000 to the campaign. the donation is part of a $100,000 gift to the human rights campaign. it's a national organization that's promoting same sex marriage in all four states where it is on the ballot. along with u.s., maine, minnesota, and washington state have an initiative on the ballot regarding same sex marriage. if you want to vote on the issue, you can always go to the polling places ahead of

right now there's a growing gas crisis there. the lines to get gas stretch for blocks and many people waiting in lines for hours to get gas. some drivers pull up to the pump on fumes. and days after sandy there was no gas because of power outages so many drivers were fast losing patience. >>driving around forever trying to find gas. >> i waited in line about 45 minutes. i get up here, and they only take cash,. >> oh, man. >> so that wait was for nothing. >> now, in the aftermath of sandy, hospitals in new york are struggling to stay open. in the height of the storm the nyu medical center had to be evacuated and this morning another hospital is closing its doors and moving patients. halloween is one holiday kids look forward to. however sandy put a damper on the plans for kids to get dressed up and go outside and collect candy at least in a few

states. the governor in new jersey postponed halloween because of the storms. many towns pushed back trick or treating until saturday, and some parents took their kids to local malls or to parade around in their costumes, but the kids say it's just not the same as going around the neighborhood. >> we found out we couldn't go to halloween. we were kind of like shoot. >> nobody has electricity. i don't think the door bells will work anyway. >> this is the second year halloween had to be delayed. last year it got postponed because of a snowstorm. i know in my neighborhood i saw a lot of little ninjas and ballerinas at my door. they just had to have a coat on. >> it did turn out pretty good around here. that's what you wait for, you wait for the candy. let's talk about what's going on today, this morning, on maryland's most powerful radar. we're picking up on a few showers, very light in nature. we can zoom in across the areas. remember yesterday, the same areas right around hagerstown

this morning, towards myersville as well. and as we slide further towards the east tommy town getting in on some action and more of the same in westminster. then you have to head to the we said west to get into mixed precipitation. roadways are going to be slick. and you're going to be seeing sleet and snow, rain, all that mixing in across that area. now look at those sandy rain total maps here. look at the pinks, the highest 10 or more inches you can see around the eastern shore, and then we can see some of those reds there. we're talking about 6 inches, 5 inches of rainfall. we really got some rain. it was much needed but we didn't need it all at once. also look at the snow that sandy brought as well, that combination of that big cold front moving through. look at red house maryland, 30 inches of snow snow all the way down to gatlinburg tennessee. 22 inches. that is a gauge of what

happened with sandy. today we're cold, 46 degrees in easton. we can see sandy pulling away. high pressure will begin to build in, we are going to be looking at drier times and more sunshine but here's a check of your planner for today. we will be breezy with that temperature at 52 degrees. good morning lynette. unfortunately we are dealing with storm damage in hartford county. if you are traveling in fall son be careful on friendship road also mayhem road at carson's run road going to be affected. if you are using 95 fortunately no problems from bel air to white marsh and once you get to the beltway you're looking at a 14-minute ride to downtown baltimore. as far as 695 is concerned, here's what it looks like in parkville at hartford road, everything moving along, no problems getting up towards towson and this is what 83
